Flaps

#Purpose of flaps
=Increase descent angle without increase in airspeed

ex) One of the main functions of flaps during approach and landing is to

=increase the angle of descent without increasing the airspeed.

ex)What is one purpose of wing flaps?
=To enable the pilot to make steeper approaches to a landing without increasing the airspeed.

Angle of Attack

#Angle of Attack

=an acute angle “A”
=the angle between chord line and relatively wind

#Stall
When there is a critical Angle of attack,
lift is destroyed and  no longer air conforms on the surfce of the wing.

ex)The angle of attack at which an airplane wing stalls will remain the same regardless of gross weight

ex)The indicated airspeed at wich a given airplane stalls will remain the same regardless of altitude.

ex)At hight altitude the stall speed is the same.

Aerodynamics

#4 Aerodynamic forces
=Thrust, Drag, Lift, Weight

ex)The four forces acting on an airplane in flight are
Lift, Weight, Thrust, and Drag

#Unaccelerated Flight
=Not changing speed and direction

ex)When are the four forces that act on an airplane in equilibrium?
During unaccelerated flight.

#In Equalibrium during unaccelerated Flight
Thrust=Drag
Lift=Weight

#Straight and level Flight

Thrust=Drag
Lift=Weight
